I have a question for any iPod users out there...
I currently sync my iPod to my Mac at work. It has all my playlists, all my music, just the way I like it.
I've copied a number of files to the hard drive portion of the FW drive. I would like to be able to give these files to my husband, who has a 12" PowerBook. He also has an iPod.
If I plug in my iPod to his Mac, while logged in as him, will it start to sync my iPod to his iTunes playlist? Can I just get it to be a FW drive, and if so, how do I do it? Just plug it in?
I haven't wanted to do that for obvious reasons.

If the iPod is not linked (software) to the iTunes on the drive it's connected to (cable), you should get a message that says "do you want to sync these?".
That's what has happened to me in the past when I lost my library. I plugged the iPod in to juice it up, but didn't sync until I had reripped part of my library.
In the preferences (iPod prefs, I think), there is an option to show the drive on the desktop as a FW drive. I think you have to have the iPod plugged in to access this preference set.
I can't verify anything because I'm at work on my Wintel box, but I am *positive* that you get an option not to sync.

I can confirm what Ginger says. When you plug your iPod into Lou's Mac, it'll say, "This iPod is linked to another Mac. Do you want to sync the iPod to this computer?" Tell it, of course, NONONO. Then you should be able to mount the HD part, and life will be good.
