Testing Spoilers

I've created a spoiler tag for my blog. This will let me post things more easily that might be spoilers, by coloring them the same as the background color, making the person highlight the text with the mouse to read the spoilage.

There is a reason for this coming up, if I can make this work.

So, testing out the spoilage.

Movie Quotes Quiz #1

I've been promising this here for a while now. And since I've just added the spoiler tag, I would ask that if you are replying in the comments, please use it, so that other people can guess without reading your answers first!

That's one thing I like about Livejournal better, but I do still love MT.

To use the spoiler tag, please put <span class="spoiler"> before your replies, and </span> following them. Once all the quotes have been correctly identified, I'll go in and remove the spoiler tags so you can more easily see the responses.

No prizes for this, except wallowing in your own geekitude. Please refrain from using Google or the IMDb until after you've given it at least one go. Onward to the quiz!

EDIT: Okay, the spoiler span in the comments isn't working. I'm looking into the sanitize spec now...

EDIT^2: Okay, spoiler span fixed. And I must give a shout-out to MT Wiki, which gave me just the perfect solution for this, and is an awesome resource.

Avast, ye mateys!

So yeah, I saw Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl.

Spoilers in the cut!

I'd go see it again, but League opens this weekend, so ...

And the trailer for Haunted Mansion? Eddie Murphy is SO going against his comic routine! Doesn't he recall his Delirious show? Black people in a haunted house? *whispered voice* "GET OUT!" "That's right, we be leaving." *shakes head* Boy, has Disney scraped the bottom of the barrel when they're doing movies based on rides.

Depreciated!

According to Humans For Sale, I've gone down in my value.

You are worth exactly: $1,682,060.00.

Last year, about this time, I was worth $1,725,060.00.

Woe.

Saddlebred Attack

I heard this story [Real audio link] on NPR this morning, and started doing a search to find out more. Nothing on Sports Illustrated, or CNN, which surprised me. I know that show horses aren't high on the list of sports news, but with an attack like this, I thought it would have gotten SOME coverage. Fortunately, Google came to the rescue, and I found a local article: Attack on horses shocks show participants.

According to the NPR report, they don't know what substance was injected into the horses' legs. One of the newspaper articles said it was acid, but I don't know if that's accurate.

I am no Saddlebred fan. In fact, one of the colleges I applied to was heavily into the 5-gaited horses, which was one of the main reasons I chose not to go there. But for someone to maliciously hurt each of these five horses enough to make them lame enrages me. Not enough to kill, it seems. Just to put them out of competition.

From another article:

Each horse developed a hole where flesh was dying on the rear pastern between the ankle and hoof. Only the left front leg of each horse appeared to have been touched, Lopez said.
I can only say further that I really hope it wasn't someone involved in the show horse business. To imagine that a competitor would do such a thing to another's horses does not make me think that he or she would treat his own horses well.

Movie Quotes Quiz #1 Answers

Hey folks! I'd like to thank Doyce and Boulder Dude for participating. The spoiler tag didn't work as well as I thought it might, since on the Mac everything was open after the first answer. *pouts* Ah well. next time. If there is one.

Here are the answers to the quotes! Hope you two had fun, since no one else seemed interested. I doubt I'll do it again. :)

Jealousy reigns in this house

Lou is very jealous of Jack right now.

See, he has the D&D 3.5 books. The ones that aren't supposed to be out on the street for sale until Friday.

Which is when Lou will get them.

And of course, Jack is telling him all about the changes on IM.

Amazon once again beats out the (as Jack calls it) the FLGS (Friendly Local Gaming Store). Personally, I think it's just because Jack buys so much from Amazon they can't afford to piss him off. ;)

But now Lou must wait two days, and hopefully the shipment will arrive on Friday, otherwise there will be Hezmana to pay!

Off to GenCon

Well folks, I'm off to GenCon. First one in Indy, I'll be sure to let you all know how it turns out in the new venue!

I am bringing the laptop, but connectivity is unknown, so I may just have a spate of blog entries upon my return, or I may post bits while I'm there. We'll see.

***Dave, have a great Blogathon! I look forward to reading your posts when I return!

July 30, 2003

Yep, I'm back

Am definitely back from GenCon. Fun was had, though I didn't manage to catch up with Lisamarie (totally spaced it on Sunday, and one of my seminars was longer than I had thought it was, which cut into what I thought was my free time), but I'm writing up some more details, which I will post soonest.

I highly recommend Indianapolis as a convention city, though. The GenCon staff left a lot to be desired (the lines were huge and tres slowly moving, but I didn't have to deal with any of the, so..), but overall I loved the new venue. Can't wait to go back next year.
