A summary of what happened during the game sessions: April 12, 2002 - Session 29 The group made it to the manticore lair without too much difficulty. Tallis, who was still somewhat injured, and Zel took point outside, in case anything came at them from that way. The rest of the group began to explore the cave that they had seen from a distance away. The cave was dark, so Sana cast light upon whatever object the person wanted. Then carefully, they entered the den, Jack taking point. The den was a natural cave, so it wandered and narrowed, with a small sliver of an opening off to the left side as the proceeded down, but it didn't look big enough for a manticore to fit through. Jack went in to investigate and found that it was were much of the creatures' "trash" ended up. While Jack investigated the opening a bit more, the others heard a sound from further in, and started to investigate. And it turned out that the cave was occupied, but not by manticores. A few small lizard-men were hiding in the back of the cave, and as the group investigated, they attacked. One of the creatures vanished into thin air after doing some gestures, but the others were easily, and quickly, dispatched. Concerned that the one who vanished had just turned invisible, Jon hit at the area with his fists, but came into contact with nothing. They then rooted around in the den and found a number of items and proceeded to carry them out, only to hear Tallis say that they had company. In the form of centaurs, who asked in Sylvan what was going on. They knew Tallis, but upon seeing Ezhno, only spoke with him. Tallis was surprised that they were in centaur lands now, he hadn't thought they'd passed the markers yet. But it appeared the lands had grown, and that perhaps the centaurs were in a battle with the kobolds over territory. The lead centaur of the scouting party named himself Dasan Lighthoof, and the others introduced themselves. As the group indicated they wanted to continue through centaur lands, Dasan said he would bring them before the council. The group should follow them, and they set off through the night. Sana and Rylan could understand the centaur's speech, and Sana translated it for the rest of the group. Being Sana, she couldn't resist adding in commentary and making her own interpretation of the centaur's words. Dasan told Ezhno to tell everyone to be quiet, or they would be gagged. It did NOT sit well with the others, but they complied. A few more hours of traveling and the group entered an oasis that was populated by centaurs. It appeared to be a small village area, and they were told they would spend the day there, and proceed to the centaur's home the next night. The group stayed to themselves and talked quietly, while Jack went and watered their horses. Tallis, still being injured, told Sana he would seek out a centaur who had healed him in the past, named One-Eye, to get further healing. He was also the one who had provided Tallis with the potions he had been using to heal up. Along the way, Ezhno had picked up a "nickname" from the centaurs, who all had two names, the second being a descriptive. With his shiny metal centaur armor, they had taken to calling him Glittermane, which he did not like but did not dispute. The others centaurs in the area watched them through the day, but did not approach. And when night came, they set out once more. No quote of the evening was recorded. |
