A summary of what happened during the game sessions: March 16, 2001 - Session 4 The session started out with the group deciding to rest for the evening before they got into more details about Margaret and what she might, or might not know, about their task. Jon showed her the tokens they had collected, and Margaret indeed showed her the one that she had. However, the man who had given it to her she knew as Ramiel. Ramiel had helped her during her early career as a healer, when a rather unpleasant gentleman sought to take advantage of her good nature. But about their clues, which Rylan read to her, she knew nothing. They explained how they had been given the task to retrieve the next item that their mutual benefactor had been looking for by his daughter, and that he was missing. The group debated about putting the last piece in place, since they did not know what it would do. It was eventually decided that they would gather all their equipment, and meet outside the town, just in case it did something drastic. Once everyone had gathered, they put the pieces together. The lazy eight, the infinity symbol, rose out of the newly-formed full piece of milky-white metal, and about an inch above the stone, transformed into an arrow, pointing in a direction. That direction was west and north. It was decided that it would be best to go back overland to the east and follow the ocean to Keysport. From there, they could determine a bit more about where the arrow was pointing, and follow the river westward until it gave another direction. So they set off. This time, their trip was uneventful. Other than the curious fishing villages they passed along the way (curious as to their travel as well as their party members), they were undisturbed. Upon arriving in Keysport, the group went to The Parched Perch, an inn run by one of Jon's friends, where he had done some "bouncing" before. Jack headed home, to talk to his mother and father, and the rest of the group began to look around Keysport. While significantly smaller than Clearwater, Keysport has shown tremendous growth in the past few years. In a few more, it would definitely be a major trading port, and it showed. Jack, after returning to the Perch and checking with the group, went with Jon to make arrangements for the group to take a boat up river. Due to the nebulousness of their information (no real idea where they were going, or how long it would take), the riverboat captain, Thomas, drove a hard bargain. Jon set to work negotiating, and they managed to set a good price (20 silver) for a trip to Riverfell, with more to be paid if the trip went longer. They were to set sail with the tide in the morning, so the group settled in for a celebration and a good night's rest that evening. Sana had negotiated a price with the innkeeper that included her singing for the evening. The crowd in the common room of the Perch was absolutely packed that evening, after a trial of her singing was heard in the afternoon. Plus she also went out and talked up her performance. And of course, just when everything seemed to be going fine, all heck broke loose. An eerie howling sounded outside the inn, though only those nearest the windows could hear and react to the sound. Many of the inn's patrons began to panic, and outside in the city, the sounds of panicking could be heard too. Three dog-like creatures tried to attack the inn's patrons, two from the front and one in the rear. They were, however, mainly focusing on the group, who took the situation in hand in little time. The only difficulty they encountered was the creatures' nature; what often appeared to be a solid hit would fail to cause any injury. Jon, hearing the sounds of panic in the city, left to try to assist the city folk, only to realize that the panic had begun to wear off the farther away from the inn he went; it was a short-term effect, and people began to recover. It appeared the only creatures causing this were around the Parched Perch. The group went back to their evening festivities, but prepared for an early leave in the morning. No quote of the evening was recorded. |
